VocalFlow AI — Privacy Policy

VocalFlow AI ("we", "our") provides a Chrome extension and companion website that dub YouTube video audio into another language in real time. This policy explains what data the extension and website collect, why, and how it's handled.

What we collect

Chrome permissions we use

tabCapture - to capture the audio of the YouTube tab you're watching, so it can be translated in real time. We never capture video or audio from any tab other than the one you're actively watching, and only while Live Dubbing is switched on.
offscreen - required by Chrome to process captured audio (mix, resample, and play back translated audio) outside the visible page.
activeTab / scripting - to detect the YouTube video you're watching and inject the dubbing status indicator.
storage - to remember your settings locally.
Host permission for *.youtube.com - the extension only runs on YouTube video/shorts pages.
Host permission for our backend (vocalflow-backend-*.run.app) - to send audio for translation and check your credit balance.

Third parties we rely on

Google Gemini API - performs the actual speech translation. Audio is sent to Google for processing per their own API terms; we do not control how Google's models process it beyond generating the translated response.
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Hosting) - account login and credit balance storage.
Google Cloud Run - hosts our backend relay server.
PayPal - processes payments. We never receive your full card or bank details.

What we don't do

We don't record, store, or replay your tab audio after a session ends.
We don't sell your data to third parties.
We don't track your browsing outside of YouTube video/shorts pages.

Your choices

You can turn off Live Dubbing at any time from the extension popup, which immediately stops audio capture. If you've linked a VocalFlow account, you can request deletion of your account data by contacting us below.
